Speak Up, Man!

Contribute to InnerMan Magazine

Do you like to write? Do you feel you have something to say, something to contribute, something to enrich the lives of your fellow men? If so, we invite you to participate in the creation of Inner Compass' electronic magazine, InnerMan Magazine.

Unlike the various magazines currently available and labeled as "Men's Magazines" (Maxim, GQ, Esquire, and FHP, for example), InnerMan will focus more on a man's emotional and psychological journey. Other aspects of masculinity such as health and physical fitness may also be reflected in the magazine but not to the extent of other magazines.

Our vision is to accumulate articles, columns, and editorials that challenge the masculine stereotypes and present healthier alternatives for men from all walks of life. Subject matter will be as diverse as men themselves. More specifically, we are looking for articles examining:

• Fatherhood
• Relationships
• Workplace roles
• Role models
• Psychological and emotional issues
• Mentoring
• Men's health, exercise, and diet
• Spiritual enlightenment
• Movie and book reviews
• Media and theatre
• Men and their music

We are also interested in developing weekly or monthly features such as a regular column of a stay-at-home dad, or a column focusing on the perspective of today's young (18-24) man. If you have ideas of your own, we are open to your suggestions.

You don't have to be a professional writer to get our attention, but style counts. We want writing that comes from the heart, that captures the mind, and that shows your commitment to making a difference in the world. You can be lighthearted or serious, funny or gut-wrenching. Just be yourself, and take this unusual opportunity to actually improve the lives of your fellow men.

All you need is a strong desire, and of course, access to email. If you intend to write a regular column, we'll expect you to meet deadlines, but that's pretty much all we ask.

What do you get out of it? Apart from some recognition and some exposure (and perhaps the sheer joy of getting something off your chest), at this time we can only offer our thanks, and a prominent link to your website, if you have one. If you don't, we'll still publish your byline and a personal biography page to get your internet writing career off to a good start.
